Coach Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct has been adopted for the safe and enjoyable experience for all involved.

The emphasis of CLGFS is to provide a positive environment for teaching the basic rules, skills and sportsmanship of softball. To that end the Head Coach is responsible for the conduct of his/her players, assistant coaches and spectators.

All coaches, as members of CLGFS must adhere to the above “Code of Conduct.” Any coach found in violation of this “Code of Conduct” is subject to the disciplinary action listed below or may be removed from his/her coaching position.

The CLGFS Board of Directors shall be responsible for all implementation, enforcement and disciplinary actions related to the “Code of Conduct.”  Any CLGFS member receiving disciplinary action, as a result of a violation of the “Code of Conduct,” has the right to appeal such action to the Board for review.

In our efforts to make the CLGFS experience a positive one for all league members, especially the players, we have adopted the following  Code of Conduct in which all players, coaches, umpires and spectators will be bound:

 A.     Use of profane, obscene or vulgar language and/or gestures will not be tolerated.

B.     Do not make any objectionable demonstrations concerning any coach’s, umpire’s or official’s decision (s).

C.     Do not make disparaging or insulting remarks to or about coaches, umpires, officials, opposing players or spectators.

D.     Abuse of CLGFS equipment will not be tolerated.

E.     Do no attempt to intimidate any umpire or official to sway their decision. Umpire’s and official’s decisions are FINAL

F.      Head coaches may ask an umpire about a call between innings or after a game, but not while the game is active.

G.     Any questions from players, assistant coaches or spectators must be directed through the head coach (or in their absence – the acting head coach)

H.     The umpires will direct all conversations about any players, coaches, or spectators through the head coach of that team.

I.      Being under the influence of either ALCOHOL or DRUGS, while involved in CLGFS activity, is unacceptable behavior.

Individuals found in violation of the above “Code of Conduct” are subject to the following disciplinary actions:

 1.     Any players, coaches, umpires and spectators found violating the code of conduct will be first warned verbally or in writing.

2.     Any player, coach, umpire or spectator violating the code of conduct for a second time will be asked to leave the field on which the game is occurring.

Failure to leave the area may result in the associated team’s forfeiture of the current game or next scheduled game.

 3.     Any player, coach, umpire or spectator asked to leave for a second time, will not be allowed on the field for the next scheduled game, including tournaments and All Star games.

4.     Any player, coach, umpire or spectator asked to leave for the third time in any season, will be not be allowed on the playing field for the remainder of the year, including tournaments, picnics and All Star games.

5.     Any player, coach, umpire or spectator banished under the terms of numbers 3 and 4 above will be allowed to petition an immediate hearing by at least three (3) Board members of the Crystal Lake Girls Fastpitch Softball Organization in an attempt to mitigate the suspension.

6.     Head coaches and assistant coaches must work in conjunction with the CLGFS Board. The Board at anytime can remove any coach from their duties if they do not comply with any and all requests from the CLGFS Board.

7.     Assistant coaches will not undermine Head coaches decisions; all assistant coaches will support the decisions made by the Head coach.
