Player Expectations

Representation
I will behave appropriately at practices, games, and tournaments. I understand that I represent the Crystal Lake Girls Fastpitch Softball Organization.
Respect
I will respect my teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, volunteers, spectators, and property. I will encourage good sportsmanship at all times.
Sportsmanship & Behavior
I will not swear, make inappropriate gestures or comments, or disrupt games by arguing or harassing spectators, other teams, or officials.
Bullying, teasing, racism, profiling, or any form of harassment is not tolerated.
I will support and cheer for my teammates.
Effort & Fair Play
I will play aggressively but fairly. I will practice with the same intensity and attitude I want to bring to games.
Attendance & Communication
I will be on time for practices and games. If I cannot attend, I will notify my coach as early as possible so appropriate adjustments can be made.
Inclusivity & Equality
I will respect all individuals regardless of race, gender, religion, or any differences, while representing the league.
League Compliance
I will follow all guidelines and rules set forth by NISA.

Consequences for Non-Compliance

If a player does not, cannot, or will not follow the Code of Conduct or team rules, the head coach may:
Bench the player.
Reduce playing time.
If violations are frequent or severe, the CLGFS Board may:
Remove the player from the team for the remainder of the season.
Review the player’s eligibility for the following season.
All serious infractions will be reviewed by the Board and may result in more severe action.

League Disciplinary Actions (All Individuals)

These actions apply to players, coaches, umpires, and spectators:
First Violation: Verbal or written warning.
Second Violation: Removal from the field or playing area.
Failure to Leave: May result in forfeiture of the current or next scheduled game for the associated team.
Second Removal in a Season: Individual is suspended from the next scheduled game, including tournaments and All-Star games.
Third Removal in a Season: Individual is banned from all CLGFS fields and events for the remainder of the year, including tournaments, picnics, and All-Star games.
Individuals removed under these terms may petition the CLGFS Board for an immediate hearing to request mitigation of the suspension.
Head and assistant coaches must work cooperatively with the CLGFS Board; the Board may remove any coach who does not comply with league expectations.
Assistant coaches must support the head coach and will not undermine their decisions.

Parent Code of Conduct

At CLGFS, our mission is to provide a positive, safe, and development-focused environment for all players. Parents and guardians play a critical role in supporting that mission.

By registering your athlete with CLGFS, you agree to the following:

1️⃣ Player First Mentality

  • Encourage effort, learning, and teamwork over winning.

  • Support your athlete’s development and love for the game.

  • Allow coaches to coach and players to play.

2️⃣ Respect for Coaches & Volunteers

  • Treat all coaches, board members, and volunteers with respect.

  • Understand that most coaches are volunteers donating their time.

  • Address concerns privately and respectfully — never during or immediately after a game.

3️⃣ Respect for Umpires

  • No arguing calls from the stands.

  • No yelling, taunting, or negative comments toward officials.

  • Remember: Umpires are human and deserve respect.

4️⃣ Sideline Behavior

  • Cheer positively for all players.

  • Avoid coaching from the stands.

  • No profanity, negative gestures, or confrontational behavior.

5️⃣ Communication Guidelines

  • Follow the 24-hour rule before addressing game-related concerns.

  • Schedule conversations directly with the coach — not via social media or group chats.

  • Keep all communication constructive and solution-oriented.

6️⃣ Social Media Expectations

  • Do not post negative comments about players, coaches, teams, or the league.

  • Do not share confidential team or league information.

  • Represent CLGFS in a positive manner at all times.

7️⃣ Commitment & Responsibility

  • Ensure your athlete arrives on time and prepared.

  • Communicate absences in advance.

  • Fulfill any financial commitments or volunteer requirements on time.

8️⃣ Zero Tolerance Policy

The following behaviors may result in removal from a game, suspension, or dismissal from the league:

  • Harassment or bullying of players, coaches, or officials

  • Threatening behavior

  • Physical altercations

  • Repeated unsportsmanlike conduct

Our Goal
